How to root Gionee A1 and Install Custom Recovery

These are the simple instructions on how to root Gionee A1 using the adb and fastboot tools on Windows Computer. The Gionee A1 runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat)  powered by Mediatek Chip: MT6755 (Helio P10) SoC

How to root Gionee A1

Step 1:  Follow this our simple detailed instruction on how to install adb and fastboot and Unlocking the Bootloader of the Gionee A1.

Step 2: Download custom Philz recovery or Twrp recovery  by team hovatek and copy into the same folder as the fastboot.exe and adb.exe in the step 1.

Step 3: Download SuperSU 2.78.zip  to flash through recovery to gain root access to our Gionee A1 smartphone device.

Step 4: Now, Copy SuperSU.zip to the phone’s External storage (SD card).

 

Step 5: boot into Fastboot by Enable USB Debugging on Your Gionee A1. To enable Developers Option: Open Settings > About Phone > Tap on the Built Number for 6-8 times until developers option is enabled.

Step 6: Now, Again Go Back to the Settings > Developers Option > Enable OEM unlocking and USB Debugging.

Step 7: Connect your Gionee A1 to the PC via USB cord while switched On.

Step 8: Download and install the Minimal ADB and fastboot tools on your computer.

Step 9: Once, Installation is completed Launch the Minimal ADB and fastboot tools.

Step 10: Now, you will be able to see the following command window.

Step 11: Now, in the command window type: Adb devices and press enter from the keyboard. You will be able to see the list of Android devices attached to the computer.

Step 12: Once the device gets detected, boot it into Fastboot by running the following command (press Enter after the command) adb reboot-bootloader

Step 13: When the phone enters Fastboot, flash the Philz or Twrp recovery to the phone by typing this command fastboot boot recovery.img (then pressing Enter)

Step 14: The phone should automatically boot into Philz recovery mode. In Philz recovery, you use the Volume buttons to navigate and Power button to select.

Step 15: Select Install Zip, Navigate to the location of the SuperSU2.78.zip on the SD Card and select it

Step 16: Wait till flashing is complete. If you are prompted to fix root, select No.

Step 17: Reboot the phone normally. Confirm Root by installing and running Root Checker.
